HOW WE DOC’ed THE VOTE (UPDATED)
A Twitterific Summary of the Last 24 Hours of Voting Madness
Well, Doccubus is now officially the top couple of the tv world. We, together as a fandom did that, during the first day of the final round someone posted a comment on the poll page saying the Glee fandom is so big that Lost Girl could never in a million years have a chance against it. And I replied with this :
“You haven’t met anyone from our fandom, have you?”
Because as evidenced from this victory, we are capable of anything to support this “little” show that we love so much. More importantly, we were encouraged and appreciated by the showrunner, the lead actresses, friends and family of the cast and both of the networks that air the show through the whole voting period. They supported us and we supported them, it was just a big mutual lovefest made possible by social media and especially Twitter.
So, without further ado, I will try to sum it up for those of you who missed the crazy, exhausting but oh so enjoyable final 24 hours of the voting process with tidbits from twitter timelines of everyone involved.
1) We Covered for Each Other
Whenever someone was not able to vote because they were at work, at school or were just getting a few hours of sleep, there was always someone else voting for them. Because that’s what we do as a fandom, we support each other.

2) We Motivated Each Other
Maybe it was getting late and we were too tired or maybe we just got distracted, but others were quick to remind us that we should have been voting and everyone just kept posting the poll link right until the end. So, we voted in every chance we got.

And we had other reasons to be motivated too…

3) We Got Ready for Our Unicorns
It all started with this tweet from our amazing showrunner Emily Andras

And of course it got out of hand pretty quickly,

So by the time we were approaching the finish line, it was practically raining unicorns;

4) We Laughed Together
We are admittedly a somewhat funny crowd, even under stress. Therefore it was not surprising that throughout the day our timeline was full of jokes, gifs, tumblr posts and many more goodies that kept us laughing and made this journey so much more enjoyable.

At one point we even started our own Doc the Vote themed Quote Fest

5) We Connected Internationally
We are such a global and diverse crowd, at one point we were voting and tweeting together with people from Australia, China, England, Ireland, Finland, Argentina, France, Russia, Netherlands, Slovenia, Belgium, Singapore, Turkey, U.S. and of course Canada. Talk about universality.

6) We Kept Track of Our Numbers in Real-time
Seriously, we love our numbers and percentages and we counted through each and every 0.1 percent of them until the poll closed. The minute we raised twitter timeline exploded.

Some of us even kept voting when the poll didn’t close at the indicated time, you know just to be sure!

7) LoveFest
After a while, it was just a big lovefest…Just read and try not to tear up…

And the best part, it wasn’t just us…

So, there you have it, we love each other, we love this show and everyone involved with it.
We took a day-off from our jobs, we skipped school, some of us (including me) did not sleep for more than 24 hours to vote, so that we could support this groundbreaking “little” tv show called Lost Girl.
Because it’s not only female empowerment at it’s best, it also has one of the most realistic, beautiful and honest portrayals of a female same-sex couple to date.
In my view, for most of us, the nonjudgmental and liberating environment presented in Lost Girl is THE future that we all crave for.
And we are more than ready for it…
UPDATE : It’s official and my timeline just exploded

And of course…
